I saw a game of football once.

Saw nothing in it.

Not sure really what people see in it now.

Where's Koli??

Good win for the Blues. Arsenal going without another trophy. I'm sure they will blather on about how there are far more important competitions for them to win this season, etc etc.

It reminds me when Spurs won it a couple of years ago and Arsenal fans claimed it to be the Mickey Mouse cup and not worth winning. Strange then that this year Fabregas was gutted to not be playing and the players afterwards were equally gutted. Maybe it means more to the players than the fans then?

The Carling cup is a micky mouse trophy. Usually the only time the bigger clubs get serious about it is if either they are in the final or they are unlikely to win anything else.
The importance of the trophies as I see it for English clubs are

Champions league
Premiership
FA cup/Europa
Carling

The smaller clubs obviously will never get a serious chance at wining CL/PL or Europa league, so tend to take the Carling?FA much more seriously.

Though for Arsenal fans it must be gutting to have lost due to a serious [LIFTED] up by your goalie/defence
but well done to the blue noses.

football is a total waste of time and life, how anyone can sit dehydrating themselves with beer, wearing some tinky lookin football shirt and watching a load of spitting hooligans kicking a ball back and forth, then when they get this football behind a certain player they act as though they have just won the lottery

pointless :x

It is not mickey mouse cup at all, players and fans wanted it not for the cup itself but to give us belief in other three competitions.
But to be honest I was more disappointed after 4-4 draw with Newcastle than after yesterday.

Yesterday we were unlucky, lost to a freak goal. If we don't get RVP back for the Barca game we have no chance in CL. That is the worst thing about yesterday.

Did you blame the keeper or defender? My initial reaction was the keeper messed up (and maybe he was out of position / not shouting out to the defender) but on the replay it looks like the defender clear missed the ball?

And yeah I fear for you at the Nou Camp.

I don't blame neither of them, things like that happen to all teams, not only to the Arsenal. The majority of the team is to be blamed for their performance!
Arsenal is the team that has the potential to win that game 5-0 if only they try enough. Going into 90th minute with 1-1 on the score board is simply inexcusable as they made themselves vunerable to a freak goal like that. With Zigic upfront there is always the risk of conceding a goal from any free kick, corner or even goal kick from City's half.

We were better in terms of possesion, shots on and off target but City wanted it more. Our players think they will games against lesser teams even if they don't try hard enough. We've seen that attitude in games with Newcastle, Orient and now with City!

Ok I'll rephrase it as I didnt mean blame for the entire loss. For that goal in particular, seeing as it seemed to involve a mix-up between the defender and goalkeeper directly leading to the goal, would you after seeing it find the goalkeeper or defender to blame for the mistake? Some of the reports I read today seemed to focus more on the goalkeeper but IMO the defender made a right balls up.

I agree. If defender decided to clear it he should have done so no matter what. Even if goalie gave him "Keeper's!", once he has a whack at it he must boot it to the half way line. But then keeper should have be ready for the cock up! Maybe it sounds harsh on a young keeper like we have but this was the final, sure he can keep focused for 95 minutes
