I just saw the watch product review. Y'know, the one where she's in the bath. She does have a certain … charm to her vids. Mark

Right, how does one go about taking part in a webcam interview? What do I wear? I'd feel a right tit sitting in shirt and tie in my own home at the table, which wouldn't make for a very comfortable interviewee. Would just a formal shirt be enough? How do you cope giving an interview over the 'net like this? I know it should be just like having an interview in person, but there extra layers of interference getting in the way. I'm usually very good in interview situations. I go in, do my thing, usually feel good about it afterwards and can relax until I'm told the result. I'm much more nervous about this than any other standard interview situation.

If you're just wearing a shirt I'd suggest not standing up.

If I went for a job as a refuse collector I'd probably still wear a suit.*
For this situation I'd probably wear a shirt and tie but forget the jacket.
* Although in one case I have been interviewed wearing shorts, t-shirt and flip-flops.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I've always worn a suite for interviews, sometimes I've felt over dressed but better than than under dressed.
I've interviewed people over the years dressed in everything from Jeans all the way through and as long as the person is smart and well presented, in most cases it wouldn't matter. Obviously different organisations have different ideas on this. For senior positions suits are a must at interview IMHO.
You must be comfortable though.
Good luck.
