Mr Deane said that the 1991 ruling by the House of Lords in relation to publication of extracts by the Sunday Times of former MI5 officer Peter Wright's autobiography, Spycatcher, meant newspapers could be in contempt of an English court if they were aware of an injunction – even if they were not specifically covered by it.

I do not think that the Sunday Herald can be prosecuted under English Law. The paper sells solely in Scotland and has no website apparently. The super injunction only covers England and Wales. No super injuction was taken out in Scotland, USA, EU, Africa, Asia or any of the commonweath. ;)

There is a website (which incidentally ground to a halt yesterday), but this article (or any of the images of RG) didn't appear on it - and as you say they don't distribute the paper south of the border. I wonder, if someone left it on a train going from Scotland to England they could be prosecuted! ;)

The law's an ass and the judges don't seem to grasp the very nature of the internet, talk about out of touch!

The Internet must be stopped:

Quote:
Committee chairman Lord Neuberger, who is the most senior civil judge in England and Wales, said the internet "does add to difficulties of enforcement at the moment".

He said the internet had "by no means the same degree of intrusion into privacy as the story being emblazoned on the front pages of newspapers", which "people trust more".

However, he warned that modern technology was "totally out of control" and society should consider other ways to bring Twitter and other websites under control.

Can these people take a step back and see how idiotic it’s become? It’s descended into farce and has done nothing other than to make the legal system surrounding these so-called “super injunctions” look idiotic.

It is getting idiotic. The more that they try and hide such details the more people will want to know what it is that is being hidden.

He’s been named in Parliament.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13503847

Quote:
Lib Dem MP John Hemmings named him during an urgent question in the Commons on on privacy orders.

Using parliamentary privilege to break the court order, he said it would not be practical to imprison the 75,000 Twitter users who had named the player.

I think that's the line of reasoning the Chinese Government often use.

The fact that the footballer is now suing his ex girlfriend of seven months shows what a scumbag he is.

And it's finally into the mainstream media after being revealed in the House of Commons:

Just seen that myself. What a waste of time and money it's all been. Still it's kept Imogen in the papers.

And so now the whole thing is finally out in the open, can the media and our law makers get back to doing their jobs please?

I, and it seems most of the Twitterverse, absolutely no interest in what this footballer has been up to with his dick. Frankly, if it had all come out in the tabloids to start with it would have blown over in a couple of days. Instead, we've have this soap opera wasting space.

(Apologies for any unintentional double entendres you may read into that last paragraph. )

If Ryan Giggs wanted to keep this secret he has made a awful job of it. Now how soon before we find out that his wife kicks him out?

The thing was her name got announced, no privacy for her unlike him. AFAIK she wasn't even going to do anything and it was pre-emptive. Could be wrong on that but you lie in the bed you make.

Fantastic footballer who I have a lot of respect and admiration for, I don't care about what he gets up to but it just looks cowardly and pathetic the whole superinjunction fiasco.
