Unfortunately it's the only piece of legislation that California can get behind. They have a stupid electoral system (one which I have seen recommended a few times here), whereby any substantial new piece of legislation requires approval in a state wide referendum. Now they have collectively voted for lower taxes, higher spending, and balanced budgets, and nobody can change any of these mutually exclusive requirements because the voters of California are collectively too moronic.
Perhaps California will be asked to leave the Dollar when it defaults.
