I'd take a look at Adobe's blog! They had a huge rangt about how Adobe CS3, CS4 and CS5 don't work with Lion and that they are producing a patch for CS5. The "patch" for CS3 and CS4 is to upgrade to CS5! The biggest thing, for Photoshop users, is that droplets don't work http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/907/cpsid_90706.htmlA lot of CS relied on PowerPC code (especially the UI, which is still written in C++ under PowerPC), which means that chunks of CS3 won't work, because there is no Rosetta in Lion. http://www.zdnet.com/blog/btl/adobe-rev ... n-os/52954http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/905/cpsid_90508.html

It wasn't installed by default but if you ran a PPC app the OS gave you an option to download & install it.

No way, I was misinformed massively on that. Not that I have an intel machine to run it on!

I must admit it means I will have to go out and update Microsoft Office. I was quite happy with Office 2004. Then it struck me how many years of life I got out of it. At least the Mac Office pricing is sensible now so will get the family pack, to cover all my machines.

With a memory upgrade, my MacBook will run Lion. So maybe I'll take the plunge.

My examinations of this so far suggest quite a lot of stuff in Lion is much more focussed towards laptop users, especially those with the smaller screens, rather than big desktop users. The gesture stuff, Launchpad etc... Jon

I have a Tragic Macpad for my MBP (it's the model before the proper multi-touch MBPs). I use it with a 21" external monitor and I really like it. I can definitely see how it would be odd using all the gestures and so on with the magic mouse given the lack of 3 and 4 finger input (is that correct?) But with the pad it's really nice to use. I actually prefer the trackpad to using a mouse now. Especially since there is a lot less moving windows around on the screen due to fullscreen apps.

I've got two magic trackpads actually. One on my iMac and one downstairs on the 'tv' mac mini. In the latter case it's because a mouse would be pretty immpractical on a sofa whereas a trackpad pad works well, especially once you switch on 'tap to click'. I also got a couple of 'skins' from here so they don't look quite so dull. On the Lion front... Alternative advertTidbits best features

I finally managed to get my Magic Track Pad linked to my main machine. So can now start looking at upgrading. I have planned to make a full clone back up before attempting to upgrade. Then need to upgrade quite a few programs as well so am holding off till I am ready for it all plus it might enable many other upgrades to come through.

If it’s just droplets - I never use them, so I’m not fussed by that. CS2 was PPC only, CS3 is Universal.
