This was always going to happen, but can we be sure that someone didn't 'reverse engineer' it (or some sh1t ;) ), or do you really need access to the source code? :? :|

Not read the article but is Stuxnet the one where it was designed to target particular controllers found only in the centrifuges of Iran's nuclear facility or some such? Read a huge-ass article on it and was blown away, not iust by its complexity but the way the antivirus chap unravelled it, with the help of colleagues across the country in different time zones.

That's the one, and it was probably me posted the article in TMP :) , it was a phenomenal bit of journalism alone :D

It's easier with the source code, assuming it was even written in a high level language. However, a virus is by necessity quite small so to experts it's not that hard to just read the raw code. I still have a notebook somewhere which I used to decompile the entire system rom on my old MZ80K back in the 80s when I was about 12, and I did that without any tools whatsoever.
