How about we don't. I mean, it's not like we don't have electric light or anything. The number of hours in a day don't change. The number of daylight hours does change. Instead of faffing about changing the clocks, we should be encouraged to be more flexible with our working times to take the best advantage of what daylight there is during the winter months.

It's just nice to be out in the summer evenings. With GMT+2 in the summer those evening swill start earlier in the year and finish later.

Whatever time it is where you are, isn't that always local time? (in homage to Steven Wright)

Oh, I see. We want to align our clocks with Europe. This from a government who would really rather were cut as many ties with the rest of the continent as possible. Keep it as it is. If you want people to start work earlier, just encourage businesses to start an hour earlier.

Well, yes, and no. The amount of daylight won't have changed, just the perception of when it begins and ends. In the summer, I'm awake before the sun rises. That can be about 4.30 some mornings, which annoys me immensely. Most people don't surface for another two hours or so, so that's a couple of hours of daylight they're missing out on. I mean, if you want 18 hours of daylight in the summer, get up earlier. In this modern world, with artificial light and so on, we don't need to move the clocks to compensate for anything. Just change the way we live life instead.

Put it back to how it was before it was changed.
Feck off BST.

I don't like arsing around with the clocks, but I'd like to stay at bst all year round. Or, better yet, gmt+2. That'd suit my dad better too as he works from France.

I'd rather be on gmt-2 all year if I had to choose. At least it would be warmer in the mornings in the winter. It's annoying when the frost on the car would melt naturally about and hour after I have to drive it...

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Here's a radical thought: How about we leave the clocks on GMT all year so that they make sense? If having lighter evenings is so important for your business, change your business hours.

I really don't see the hardship in moving a clock hand back and forth twice a year. But then why am I surprised at what I can only assume to be rank laziness, given the reticence of the public to go to a local school hall and put an X in a box once every 4 years? If they can't manage that, then of course they can't master something as drastic as manually adjusting a watch. After all, most bits of tech do it automatically.

As I've repeatedly said, I suffer genuine physiological effects that can only be described as torture because of this ludicrous practice. Sleep deprivation is against the Geneva convention FFS! Try telling a cow to suddenly get up an hour earlier every day - farmers have always known it's not possible. The cows are not making it up just to be difficult. There is absolutely no good reason for changing the clocks, and a million good reasons for saying it's a f*cked up stupid evil idea which causes social and economic damage and anyone who says otherwise is a selfish evil c*nt who should be put down.

But what is the point? I don't see the hardship in waiving my arm around in the air like a nutcase for 10 seconds every morning, it doesn't mean I should do it. I'm not a conditioned rat.
