If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

I hope they don’t have the battery problems that Tesla have. Still, DMC, why no Hydrogen Fuel Cell?

I nearly posted it earlier, but figured I'd let someone else do it!

H2 fuel cells are a bit 'chicken and the egg' at the moment. Nobody would buy a fuel cell car because there's no H2 infrastructure to back it up and nobody will spend the money to build a H2 infrastructure because there's nobody with a H2 cell car to sell fuel to... I suspect the fuel & car industries are quietly lobbying to get governments to pay for the infrastructure for them. However with the way things are at the moment that's not at all likely to happen. Unless somebody is prepared to take the plunger and throw several billion pounds at it as a very long term investment, it's just not going to happen. At least not until the price of petrol gets completely ludicrous. Jon

Very unlikely. You don't just have to change the engine, there are all sorts of things to worry about. You'd probably also need a new gearbox, new electrics and a new fuel tank if you're going to H2, which is pressurised whereas petrol, well, isn't. Basically, you'd need most of a new car. And having the work done.. fearsome amount of labour costs. It's likely you'd spend less just to buy a new car, certainly once the second hand market in H2/electric cars gets going. For one off extremely rare cars that you absolutely had to keep running once the petrol runs out and if you're a bored millionaire, possibly. It would be much cheaper to convert it to run on bioethanol or some ouch other hydrocarbon fuel that's still around even after the oil wells finally run dry.
This is assuming of course it doesn't all go a bit 'Mad Max' when the petrol starts running out.

I read a very good article about DMC and the construction of the DeLorean in Belfast. I'll try and locate it

Stick a supercharged 383ci Chevrolet small block midships and sort out the rest of the running gear and braking.
