At the Olympics, if you run a fish and chip stall, you're not allowed to serve chips on their own, because McDonalds are the Official Greasy Potato Snack of London 2012!
Apparently, McDonalds are so terrified of off-brand chips that they will only let you buy them as part of a British Heritage Ye Olde Fishe and Chippes package.

The more I hear about the Olympic Games, the more I think Twenty Twelve might actually be a documentary - what a "Catastrophisation"!

There's a world of difference between fries and chips. Chippy chips fill me up. Fries (esp MaccyD fries) leae me hungry and thirsty. Besides, I thought that fries were made from maize or some other nonsensical foodstuff?

McDonald's fries are actually 100% potato now, but I agree that chips and fries are worlds apart.

But McDonalds don't even sell chips! They sell a reconstituted potato straw, that is NOT a chip!

Edit: MSR beat me to it! :p
