MS would host it on their servers, so bandwidth costs effectively.

Don't think it's ever been set out, really. I'd only guess that it's partly to stop continual patches

But MS will take a cut of the fee paid. Less people will buy it if it's known to be buggy. MS are just harming their own reputation by leaving buggy games unpatched due to rip off charges.

I too hope that is costs them dearly, not that I own an Xbox, but if you release a game on a platform I believe you owe a duty to the people who bought the game on said platform. After all, they were clearly aware of the terms etc of selling on XBLA so they should have been prepared for this eventuality.
