Back at work after the party - phew need a rest!

Thought I'd pop in and say that I might be spending a lot more time around here tbh.

Basically I've been given a project I can't possibly do on my own and despite saying this at the start of the project, being in the company less than two months and saying literally, many times, "I don't know what I'm doing, I need help", the only concession was the guy they gave to help me who also doesn't know what he's doing.

So I'm expecting the project to fail hard and, when the boss gets back on Monday, I'm also expecting to get the sack.

Which, given the state of my CV, means that I'll most likely never get another engineering job.

I'm a bit stressed tbh

Sorry to hear that, Rusty. It does sound like your new employer has some people issues. I'll try and send some inspirational karma in your general direction.

I'm suffering cat-related poor kippage and it's beginning to take a toll. Essentially, Penny-puss likes being outside. She really likes fresh air, and will spend all day and all night curled up under a bush down the garden. She potters in to eat when she remembers she's hungry. She'll get up and want a fuss if someone wanders down the garden, but otherwise we don't see her from dawn to dusk and beyond.

Now the nights are drawing in, and the ambient temperatures are dropping of a night, we encourage her to come indoors. She's got used to having a window open in the bedroom so she can come and go, though. So she paces up and down the windowsill, sits giving meaningful glances in the direction of slumbering humans, and scratches at the window until one of us deigns to open it for her. If we want the window shut - because it might be a bit parky, for example - we get the feline equivalent of a stroppy teenager.

Last night, I eventually let her out, but promptly shut the window again. It must have been about 2am. She was sitting outside waiting to come in when I woke at 6.30am. Thankfully it had been dry and she wasn't particularly cold.

I'd leave her out all night if she wanted, but she's not a youngster any more. I worry the cold might be too much for her in her dotage.

So, it feels like we've moved from summer to Autumn already. If someone could please explain what the *#!$£ has been going on with the weather this year it would be greatly appreciated. Still, against expectations it looks like it's going to be mostly dry round here for the bulk of the day so I guess I shouldn't about it been a bit cool.
