The wife has dropped her 4s down the toilet and we need to send off to the insurance company, a friend of hers has given her an old 3g but it's locked on O2. Any quick way of unlocking it when you don't have the original sim or number without a so called jailbreak or is a jailbreak an easy option?

I trolled through Google it it seems a bit of a nightmare

any suggestions are welcome

Rich

O2 have a web page you can go to, fill in the details and provided its out of contract they'll unlock the phone with a service update. They don't advertise the page on their site at all though, you'll have to google for it. 'O2 phone unlock' or some such should do it.

Or you can phone them. Might be a bit of a problem however, without the original sim or number.

You need an O2 phone number to fill in the unlock page hence my original question.

I did this to my old 3GS before I gave it to my sister. Went to the o2 website, got a free payg sim, put on about £15-20 credit which is then claimed when you ring O2 to unlock it. A bit longwinded (had to wait a week for the sim to arrive) but it worked nonetheless.

Any local shops or market stalls that can do it for a few quid near you?
