The only problem I have with ebooks is that they all have some form of DRM that loks you unto using certain devices. After a few years you can't swap as you'd have to buy all the books again.

Yes but most people do not buy that many books to start with. I read somewhere that the average household had only 150 books, which is a very low number if it is a family of four. I bought my mum a Kindle last April, and she's already bought as many books as she did in the previous decade. It's the convenience of it.
It's not like the second hand pulp fiction paperback has any resale value, and they take up too much space for most people who really don't have a private library!

Yes there is a definite advantage plus the Fifty Shades of Grey benefit, in that you can have some crappy novel on your device and not look like an idiot. _________________Do concentrate, 007... My other half ready about 40 new books a year. When I left England, I kept around 300 books, the other 1500 I donated to charity, I just couldn't take them with me. I guess we have over1,000 books on shelves around the house, but since we got Kindles, it is a lot easier and when traveling, especially on holiday, it is much more convenient to charge the Kindle before leaving and packing it, with a bunch of new books downloaded to it, than packing a dozen books or so into the cases. It means we carry a lot less luggage with us now.

Travelling is the one area that a kindle is a far better solution. You could carry dozens of books and save so much weight. _________________Do concentrate, 007... "You are gifted. I'm not anti ebooks and I can see their benefits, I'm just someone who loves books and loves having them all over the house, so I'd not kindle it up myself, but can see the attraction.
