Ernie (and others) this is the exact reason I don't 'do' politics … people just don't seem capable of accepting that your opinion is different to theirs.
Sad but true.

I had to skulk over to bookface to see what you was talking about. I'm unfriended you too.

Not really ;)

This is what happened : I made a status update about Thatcher being dead.
They updated their status making reference to mine and ending by saying she (Thatcher) was 'ultimate girl power'.
If it wasn't for that tag, I'd've passed by, but I left a comment basically reiterating my status update.
They commented back saying it was uncalled for and unfriended me.

I don't really care.
If you know me and know my opinions you'll know that I don't actually mean harm to anybody, but just because someone is dead shouldn't mean I have to immediately and irrevocably alter my opinions about them.
Some people just aren't worth the time.

Mark

My biggest niggle about the system here is the fact that someone can just decide to go run for MP in an area they know nothing about, have no links and don't live there. How can they defend the interest of that area?

Because sometime during their tenure as a Councillor they seem to stop defending anyone's interest but their own. By the time they become an MP, it's second nature.

That does not apply in a lot of cases. Look at the numbers of MP's who were parachuted into a safe seat. If MP's had to have a 5 year residency requirement then they might defend their communities better.

Actually a lot of people are not worth the time or effort. I would not worry about it.

Live and let live I say. We don't all have the same opinion but surely that's what makes interesting conversations between friends?

No they wont, theyd spend five years pretending to care so they could be elected.

You might be right. Though having a residency requirement might actually mean that the parties cannot parachute in party faithful into safe seats, unless they have moved to that constituency prior to the election.

That the guns in FPSs have to be licensed from their manufacturers - so obvious and I'd never thought of it!

Someone should tell the NRA; those beseiged gunmakers are taking money from evil video game developers!

So the NRA would have to pay royalties if they wanted to make them. :-)

When walking, the modern human gait has a shin rise of 52°.
The infamous alleged Patterson bigfoot film features a shin rise of 73°.
