Olympus Has Fallen - Worth a watch, probably as close as we'll ever get to an actual Die Hard film again.
Funnily enough, when I was leaving the cinema after watching Olympus Has Fallen, I was thinking Die Hard as well.

How does it compare to White House Down? It seems to me that they are pretty much copies of one another.

Haven't caught it yet, but I'm sure I will at some point.

Machete 2 - Don't even watch this when it comes on TV. There's about three good laughs in the whole film, and the majority of it is people talking intercut with Machete rounding a corner to avoid gunfire. I kid you not.

All those names they hired for it? Not one of them gets a solitary good line of dialogue. It's just boring.

The Crow: Salvation - It's like an 80's music video but with worse acting.

Oh dear. This disappoints me.

I had a good laugh with the first one, but this...

I'm no film critic but I've just seen Gravity and thought it was rather good. Certainly a few groaning moments in there (what film has none?), but the ride was almost non-stop all the way through and was fairly intense in a couple of areas.

It certainly helped seeing it on the big screen and I'm glad I didn't see it in 3D. I went in with knowledge of the two stars and obvious setting in space, but aside from that few spoilers at all.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

May I enquire why?
Multiple people I know have recommended I see it in 3D and even 3D IMAX if at all possible.

I find that scenes with lots of action appear to flicker in 3D, very distracting. I also find it very frustrating that I can't focus on some objects that are flying towards me, making it less real than 2D in some cases.

Having recently re-read Dune for the first time in maybe 25 years, I was pleased to see the 1984 movie (directed by David Lynch) was being shown on the Horror Channel (?) this evening. I haven't seen the movie in a very long time either and I didn't remember thinking much of it. It was worse than I'd remembered and I couldn't watch more than half an hour of it. Endless voiceovers which - surprise surprise - don't work at all well and special effects on a par with Flash. Ho hum.

That is the problem with the film versions of Dune, if you have read the books, they are pretty much unwatchable.

Currently on the Audible version of Chapter House Dune in German.

I've read the original trilogy, are the other prequels and sequels good?

It's very unlikely that I will ever go to a cinema again...

... but if I do, I'll take some ear defenders after the last time.

The sound was ridiculously loud at the Machete showing too. I don't know if this is the way films are sent out these days or if the cinema doesn't know what it's at...
