^ Is it worth you holding off for the I5 chips that are out soon (there was a story on bit-tech or whatever it's called)? I don't know much about CPUs these days...

Isn't the i5 going to be an inferior model? Forgive my ignorance on Intel processors, I buy AMD...

Yeah, it will be a lower model but as with older Intel low models, it might be cheap and overclock well. The price of i7 may also come down as people buy i5 as a cheaper alternative.

That article confused me more than it helped.
If I wait for the i5 then I'll be waiting for the new i7s or whatever else is on the horizon. My original spec was a Core Quad processor but I waited for the i7s. Anyhoo I placed the order this morning and should get it Saturday.

Got my PC built and it is finally running well.
Had to do a rebuild as every time I ran a game, the graphics driver would crash. Then the NIC's stopped working but I think that was to do with the front panel audio cable shorting them.
I can finally play some modern games. HL2 and FEAR look amazing now that I can run them at full graphics.

Well, unfortunately OCUK cocked up...again, so my case is now going to arrive either tomorrow, or Monday, doubt it'll be here Sat, that'd be a bit hopeful. Anywho, I'll put my rig in it, show you some piccies, then when I've got all the watercooling kit plumbed in, I'll post them, simplez

It's actually illegal not to overclock that chip. I should hopefully have the money for my Lian Li soonish.

i did try, but my motherboard wasnt too obliging. i got it to 3.2GHz then got bored of constantly having to reset the CMOS when it crashed i may have another bash at it though but i think my temps are a bit high: 43 DegC at idle with speedstep turned on (~2.1GHz), with my ACF7-pro @ 50%, hits just under 60 DegC with IntelBurnTest using 100% of CPU, ACF7 @ 100%

default, CPU-Z and Abit uGuru both say around 1.19v im just about to run IntelBurnTest @ 3.2GHz, so far no voltage increases have been required
