Our new paperless, online pay slip system is a massive PITA.
Also, I've practically doubled my monthly income in overtime. 8-)

During a bout of insomnia last night, I came across this gem: http://puddlegum.net/radiohead-01-and-10/

Naan etymologically comes from the same word for nude/naked.

Sprant is a real word.

:o

and possibly , seeing as I've survived four decades without ever encountering it before.

A whole load of stuff that I didn't know, I didn't know! Now I have moved to 'Concious Incompetence' which is apparently better!

That was my argument - I've seen it listed as a new word suggestion on Collins but nothing else.

However, my son's English Lit teacher corrected his work, putting a line through "sprinted" and wrote "sprant" above it.

It's not a word. >Sprant<

dint > dinted
flint > flinted
glint > glinted
hint > hinted
mint > minted
print > printed
tint > tinted

Not only can I not think of a single example of a verb ending "-int" that goes to "-ant", it doesn't make sense etymologically. The ending "-int" is usually Germanic while the ending "-ed" is also usually Germanic via the Old English "-ode" and "-od".

The ending "-ant" is usually Latinate via Old French and Middle English.

Total bollocks. Write a letter to complain - there's enough entropy in the Universe without teachers making it up

I had never heard of 'sprant' until today. Nothing about it seems right!
