Gun Fail!
I refer you all to the story on the News Thread about a nine year old girl killing an instructor with an Uzi.

Spent 20 minutes in a meeting today helping design the course content at work today. We've moved from BTEC to another awarding body, and we need to choose the units we'll deliver to the students. To this end, the person who's been teaching on the course the longest asked 2 of us who are new to teaching, to look over the units and pick the ones we'd like to deliver. So, I went through and highlighted the 6 or 7 that I felt confident and comfortable delivering at the level we're teaching at. She sat, looked over them, and then went on to explain that we should be delivering Flash, Dreamweaver, and Photoshop. I'm sure I could get my head around Flash to a sufficient degree to deliver the course. So I pointed that out, saying I haven't used it since I was in Uni, and I'd probably be learning one lesson ahead of the students! So "Ok, well I don't want to push anyone out of their comfort zone." "Ok, well, here's the 6-7 units I can comfortably deliver." "Yeah but we need to include Flash and Dreamweaver." "Ok, do you want me to do that? Because if you do I need to start learning the software." "Yeah but I don't want to make you uncomfortable with delivering something you're not confident with.: "Ok, well, here's the 6-7 units I can comfortably deliver."
Rinse and repeat for 20 minutes.

Can anyone explain why Flash is needed any more?

Various reasons. While I was also rejoicing in it's apparent demise, it's actually very useful. In this instance, it's just a useful tool to teach the young 'uns about producing a piece of interactive software. (Don't panic; I'm not going to use it.) It's also useful if, like we do, you happen to be teaching forms of app development for iOS and Android, and you're signed up to using CS6, as you can roll out apps written in Flash to both iOS and Android, which means students can get some sort of result pretty quickly and easily. We also use Titanium, and probably Swift further down the line (i.e. when the appropriate staff members are on top of it). Flash still has a place as an animation environment too, even if your final output is simply a movie file.

We use it for handheld scanner apps! Nothing like learning to program them natively, no, run a remote desktop onto a terminal server with a web browser full screen and a Flash object designed for touch... and all that on a 3" to 4" screen.

OMJF! Please tell me you're joking.
What was so not-doable in .NET CF that they decided to go with Flash?

Had an email from our solicitor yesterday afternoon saying that the buyer was ready to exchange, and that they'd suggested a completion date of the 29th August. Not quite sure how the buyer thinks we're going to get everything moved out of the house without a removal being booked at less than 2 days notice. [LIFTED] retard.

Ordering a T-shirt, I go for the darkest looking colour they have. Only when you place the order does it actually tell you that it's brown, and not the dark grey it clearly looks like. Oh, and you can't cancel an order even though it hasn't been manufactured yet. Yeah, not likely to use you again.

No idea, although the scanners run Windows Mobile 6.0, so you need C to run them. But MS have changed the licence keys on Windows server, as they security key was too weak. The new ones are 512 bit, the old ones 128 bit. The scanners RDP client doesn't work with that and MS haven't released a patch, because they stopped supporting WM6 a few years ago - but Motorola is still selling scanners with WM6! That means more and more customers are experiencing problems, when they add additional CALs to their terminal servers. I've warned them several times, but they are all Flash programmers.
