My mortgage deal is on for another twelve months. Locally, property prices are rising and the house that I bought a year ago is worth at least £20k more (a few houses around here of same build and layout but with the old decor have been markets at £40k more).

So when it comes time to remortgage, should I get it revalued?

You've just bought! Why do you want to remortgage?

If you're on a capital repayment mortgage, you've been slowly reducing the loan whilst your property is (probably) increasing in value, so your LTV ratio will improve. You can also ring your lender nearer the time and ask what the likely variable rate will be when your fixed period ends.

Good grief, that means there's at three of us on here using it.

It does look good, but I can't justify the expense of a new handset at the moment, when my current 'phone does everything I need it to.

I put it on my work phone the other day. Not bad at all.

I've had it on my old 1020 since last summer and I bought a new 950, when it was launched - I had to wait about 8 months on replacing my old 1020.

My wife now has my old 1020, running 10, as she had a 630, which was all she "needed", but it didn't have flash. The 2 daughters both have 630s as well (on 8.1), but the youngest has switched to a Moto G, because the dating app she wanted doesn't run on Windows Phone... If I had known that beforehand, I wouldn't have ordered the Moto G for her!

Met Brian May last night. I went to his talk at the V&A which was about stereo photography and crinoline (the subject of his new book). The discussion, which included himself, his curator Denis Pellerin, and Professor Lynda Nead (historian), covered mostly how crinoline developed and fell out of favour (basically, it killed a lot of people), as well as stereo photography and how it's gaining a resurgence in part due to 3D cinema and VR. After than a brief Q&A session where Anita Dobson (who was wearing a massive crinoline dress) joined them on stage to give her thoughts on what it was like to wear it.

After that a book signing, so I had a brief chat with him. Sadly, no photo of me with him as they decided that time was against them, so you could have a signature or a photo, but not both. Still, managed to thank him for inspiring me to look more into the subject myself, which he seemed genuinely pleased to hear, as did Denis.

Most of the audience was, I feel, Queen fans. One person I spoke to in the queue appears to be a memorabilia collector. I think he was there to be at another signing. Quite a umber of fashion students, and older academics in the field. I was probably one of the few people there because of an interest in the photographic side. And, yes, I was there because it was Brian May too. I won't deny that.

So, a win - even if the lack of a photo with me and him in could be counted as a fail.
