All in all the standard Apple review...it's expensive, looks nice but is not cutting edge even for a supposedly Pro computer.

Managed to get my Skyline PC Hackintoshed so the question is not moot... For now, at least.

So apparently some folk have been complaining about the poor apparent battery performance of the new touchstrip MacBook Pro's, and in apparent response: Apple removes battery remaining time estimate from Mac OS SierraThere may indeed be a very good reason for the move but... timing? Perhaps not the best plan.

Apparently the reasoning behind it is the estimates were way,way off for the new macbook pros. Like utterly uselessly way off. However they deserve some stick for not being able to fix the issue in a timescale such that 'turn it off altogether' became a viable/necessary option.

I can’t say that I am that impressed with the new MacBook Pros. I get the “seal all the hatches - it’s an appliance” for the MacBooks - those aren’t aimed and professionals, and, really, you should be using iPads anyway. However, Pro use means that at some time, you’ll want the longevity of a battery, a reliable indication of remaining capacity, access to more ports, upgradeability, and so on. It’s the rush to be the thinnest and the lightest.

I've met 3 Mac users in the last 2 weeks, one employee and 2 sales consultants trying to sell us things. 2 MacBook Pro 13" (old models) and a MacBook Air, interestingly all of them were running Windows 7...

Looks like i might have to buy a Mac, and I am getting increasingly worried about the Hackintosh breaking. Not good if it's my only option as far as iOS Dev' goes.

You do see quite a lot of people with Apple laptops running windows. I suppose they're pretty nice laptops full stop, what OS they're running is kind of neither here nor there to that. ION, I think it's the hard drive on my iMac that's gone kaput. However according to this... Apple further restricts upgrade options on new imacsThe HDD is no longer at all a user-serviceable part, even if you could source identical components nd knew what you we re doing. And none of the Apple repair shops (either first or third party) near me have an available repair slot before Christmas. Bah.

Yup, pretty much everything in Macs these days is soldered or glued in. IIRC the 27" iMac still has user accessible RAM as does the MacPro. You can also swap the SSD on the Mac Pro I think but that's about it.

I've never used one, so don't know the software.
I like specing a PC just so and I like using Windows 10.
