You are (as ever) technically correct but missing the point

No, I think you are missing the point. The point is that you gave me an opportunity to be pedantic, and generally be the forum idiot, and I took that opportunity :JV_RULES!: Now, back on topic... Doesn't anybody else brush their teeth with champagne?

Had a chat to our guys in Oral Care (that's toothpastes before anyone gets any funny ideas), and their research shows that brushing after breakfast is better. The rate at which the bacteria in your mouth generate acid isn't quick enough, and the continual motion of food and saliva generation during eating prevents it from building up and causing decay. Brushing after breakfast ensures that no food particles remain in the mouth that can provide a nutriet source for the bacteria, and allows the active ingredients time to work before the next meal.

Interesting. I can't remember were I heard mine from. If there is an oral care section here I haven't found it. I'm sure if dentists had their way it wuld be both, just to be on the safe side though.

I brush my teeth as soon as I get up, but I don't usually eat breakfast or eat breakfast 1 to 2 hours later... (voted before)

I voted after, because if I did brush my teeth in the morning, i would. However, I generally only brush my teeth before going to bed.

Hmmm....interesting.
Up until the age of 18-19, I brushed before breakfast - it was how I was raised! As I got older, I did question the order in which breakfast and brushing occurred but an Aquafresh advert convinced me I was doing the right thing by brushing first.
At uni, I was in catered halls and the food would give me smelly breath after, so I started brushing after meals. This is how I've kept it since, though TBH, given that I brush at night before bed and have no breakfast in the morning, I usually do a quick mouthwash instead of brushing before running off to work.

After breakfast. To me, it just seems the most logical time to brush your teeth for the first time of the day.

I don't usually eat breakfast, but when I do I brush after for all the reasons given.
I always figured it was a bit odd to brush as soon as you get up if you're just about to eat breakfast. After all, you just brushed before you went to bed and you'll need to floss after breakfast anyway. I remember having this conversation about 20 years ago with a girl who didn't brush in the morning at all. She had several fillings...

For some reason, I know recall having a toothbrush chat with my mate and he didn't wet the paste after applying it to the toothbrush, whereas I did.
Another poll!

Yes, but the paste still affects the receptors on your tongue temporarily. Who knows, try doing it after; breakfast could be an entirely different taste experience...

Where's the option for neither? I only brush my teeth at night.
