Many that live deserve death. And some that die deserve life. Can you give it to them? Do not be too eager to deal out death in judgement. For even the very wise cannot see all ends - Gandalf the Grey.

Very true. My judgement stands, however. We've not got beyond mediaeval reliance on religious hokum, or petty disagreements about who owns what patch of scrub. We need to grow up and stop bickering. The planet will continue without humans. Just as it did before we evolved. We're nothing special in a global sense, just in our own view of our cleverness.

You try living on 6K per annum and tell me you have room to pay council tax too. We're not tax dodgers, we not only pay a higher rate of NI than the rest of you, we also pay VAT too.

If you want to make a difference politically, you're gonna need greater faith in the human race I agree that our own importance is self-inflated. However, we are still capable of a great many things and throwing in the towel is an easy way out.

Thinking that the only way to "save" the world is to wipe out humanity is a bit of a cop out, no matter how tempting the notion.

Too right! It's to offset the misplaced Tesco trolleys, traffic cones and to clean up the pavement-vomit!

That all depends if the OP actually meant 'Save the World' or in fact 'Save humanity's comfy existence'.

Hmm, it's not fair to presume all students do that, I for one don't. That is a bit of a dumb thing to presume tbh.

Comfy? Most people in the world lead anything but a comfy existence.

Very true. However, many people who are comfortable will happily turn a blind eye to those that are not. As I posted elsewhere; most people put themselves first, family second, nation third, race a distant fourth and couldn't care less if the rest of the planet went to hell. For some people, "Saving the world" means "Ensuring America has all the oil". Closer to home, it might mean "Ensuring I can drive my kids to school in a Range rover". Unfortunately, we live in a world were greed is rewarded and the innocent suffer. Outside of Star Trek, I've not seen any evidence of the meek inheriting the Earth. Perhaps we need a ruthless eugenics program to eliminate all the people I don't like for ever more. That sounds fair to me.

We are pretty much at the top of the food chain, as a species. We have adapted to survive in almost every climate and make use of the resources we find therein. Where we struggle, I'd suggest we do so as a result of our own actions, never because of predation, and rarely because of a natural disaster. The Bad Stuff that affects most of humanity is a result of our own doing, but the inescapable reality is that as a species, we're thriving. Do we occupy a comfortable niche? I'd say so.

Then you may be missing out - either way, I was poking fun. I usually am.

Bird Flu ( or a more virulent version) – say 70% mortality rate
Release it globally and allow nature to take its course
With the worlds population down by 70% there would be enough resources for all.

Or, hypothetically, do it through a vaccination regime....

And then hypothetically take the resources for yourself(ves) and stuff the "all" Anyone who's left over will be going through a financial crisis or too scared about terrorism to care
