Spinpoint F3 for 1TB HDD.

Which Core2Duo is it? I've just been fiddling with my E6400 this afternoon, in a media chassis with poor cooling potential. The Vid is 1.2375v, and the mobo sets the vcore at that value, but I'm running it at stock speed on a vcore of 1.0v. A two hour Orthos stress test didn't turn up any problems, and the CPU is running 16 degs cooler.

May be staing the obvious but needs to be as quiet as possible. You really do notice fan and disk noise. Passive graphic card and chipset, and as siolent a cpu cooler as you can find. Rubber mounts for the HDD. Not so vital for the DVD

i was going to get this anyway: http://www.scan.co.uk/Products/Sharkoon ... ponents%29
im not that concerned about noise because u wont be able to hear it over music and my other pc lol.
the media pc is going to be on most of the time downloading etc. its just so i can keep all my music, picture in one place rather than across 2 flash drives and a laptop and a computer.

For a cooler I'd go for a Zalman flower cooler. Nice low profile & silent at low speed.
A Samsung F1 or F3 1TB drive will be fine.
Ideally you'll want a modular psu, 500-600w should be more than overkill.
Ditch the gfx card and replace it with a passive 8400GS or similar with hdmi.
