Please let us know about useful online resources for our hobby.
It would be helpful if you provided a brief explanation of why you find it useful, but that's not compulsory.

Learning ResourcesDigital Photography SchoolI found this one by accident, and it's full of tons of useful stuff. Highly recommended to beginner and up. I subscribe to the RSS feeds to make it easier to keep up with it.
PhotofocusI just discovered this new blog and podcast. Scott Bourne and Rick Sammon are long-time pros with a lot to share. The podcast is based on tweeted and emailed questions, with show support and more on the blog.
Martin Bailey PhotographyA hugely inspirational photographer, I follow Martin's regular podcast. He's based in Tokyo, and specialises in nature and landscape work. Martin has also started a blog as a better way to provide show notes to his podcast:
Martin Bailey Photography BlogTips From The Top FloorAnother one I found through his podcast. Chris Marquardt is German, sounds like a loon, but knows his stuff. Well worth subscribing to his weekly 'cast, if nothing else, and he's started a daily "tip" podcast as well.
Visual Science LabA blog about taking photos by people who take photos. Some of their opinions you might not agree with, but that's part of the fun of learning.
DOFmasterThis page is an online depth of field calculator. A good place to learn all about DoF and stuff.
PopPhotoThe sister site to
Popular Photography and
American Photo, two US based photo magazines. There's a good mix of things - reviews, features and so forth.
Photographers' RightsBecause some people don't like you taking pictures, this site will help you know what your rights are when photographing in public places.
UK Photographers' Rights and The LawEverything you ever need to know about your rights under United Kingdom law.
MaintenanceCleaning Digital CamerasWhen the dust gets too much, there's tons of useful info here to help you clean your digital SLR.
Inspirational StuffAlexey TitarenkoMainly for inspiration than anything else.
Steve BloomStunning wildlife photography.
ViewfinderThis is a blog about photos in the news, from the BBC, but there's lots of other photographic interest here as well.
24 hours in picturesIn a similar vein to the Beeb's blog, the Guardian's photo sections is more established. Again, images from around the world to provide inspiration and wonder.
(I subscribe to both the last two as RSS feeds, which is an excellent method of keeping up with them.)
Research and ShoppingDigital Photogography ReviewGreat for reading up on in-depth reviews of favoured cameras, great comparison function, sample images you can download and compare - all in all an excellent first stop for researching new kit.
EFlens.comA quick way to find out about lenses in Canon's range - includes technical data as well as links to reviews and the like.
The Digital PictureExtensive reviews of Canon digital cameras and lenses.
KurtmungerA good site for Sony/Minolta lens reviews.
(At last we can break out of the Cankon duopoly! - HK)ephotozine.comA good source of lens reviews can be found in its archive, as well as other resources and inspiration.
DxOMark SensorThis site ranks cameras based on real-life photographic scenarios based on RAW sensor image quality measurements. Which is handy if you're trying to make up your mind about which camera would best suit you.
Warehouse ExpressGreat online store for all of your photography needs. Generally seems to have the best online prices, too.
Camera WorldDecent online store, with proper physical stores where you can go and try stuff out. Not always competitive, but useful to compare with the other online offerings when shopping around.
Jacobs DigitalAs with CameraWorld, Jacobs have a wider spread of actual shops across the UK. Again, not necessarily competitive, but good to act as price comparisons when shopping around.
Discount Films DirectFor those that still uphold the analogue camera flag, here's a good place to get the films that are becoming scarcer in wild.
7 Day ShopOh so cheap for film, and free shipping on everything. Lots of other goodies to be had as well.
Mir.comVery comprehensive guides, lots of detail, for those in search of older cameras. Practically the user manual online for many, many of the main manufacturers. Not the best designed site in the world, but Google is your friend. So, if you stumble upon a curio that piques your interest, it's well worth a Google across that site for any info.
(It might be worth adding that
Amazon.co.uk also can be very competitive when shopping for camera accessories like lens hoods and batteries.)
Shameless Plug Sectionx404 Flickr GroupThe Flickr Group formerly known as Dennis.
One Photo a Week Flickr GroupA group for those people who, for whatever reason, simply can't manage a 365 project. Don't feel any obligation to join, though even if you do join don't feel any obligation to post images, though of course your participation and support would be most welcome.
Nick MinersWhat can be said? An accomplished photographer who is happy to share his knowledge.
SnaptophobiaMy photography blog.
