My bank messed up, so I wrote a letter of complaint to them. I have just noticed a £50.00 credit into my account as compensation, which I didn't think was bad :)

Neck ache. I didn't deal with it soon enough. It's creeping up to the back of my head and round the ears now.

I had £50 last week from my insurance company for no reason. They must be desperate to keep my business. I cashed it quick in case they changed their mind and wanted it back!

Forgot about the FPOTD thread, so I shall witter away in here.

My room is in serious need of being 'dealt' with. I am loathe to use the word 'tidy' as it really doesn't convey just how much crap needs dealing with in here. In addition, I have had to switch chairs as the one I was using seems to be what has given me sciatica. The temporary replacement is pretty tall, so I need to do something to raise up the height of the monitor otherwise I am just going to end up with a different set of problems. Anyone got a Herman Miller Aeron chair going spare?

I also have until Wednesday to build a discussion board for a uni project. Annoyingly it has to be in php rather than asp (guess which one I already know!)

I had a couple of glasses of wine at lunchtime with the work girlies and now I'm slightly merry! Been more productive at work that I normally am. What's that about? Should I drink every lunchtime??

Maybe I should start a poll.

I can't go into too much detail, but I would appreciate somebody's advice, please, regarding buying on eBay.

A few weeks ago, I bought a product on eBay which turned out to be faulty. I contacted the seller immediately and he dispatched a replacement, which I thought was good service. Unfortunately, the replacement was also faulty. Upon closer inspection, I have found that the poor wiring and lack of fuses mean there is a huge safety issue involved, so I emailed the seller to explain this.

When I received no response, I opened a PayPal dispute which the seller responded to and asked me to return the items. I escalated the claim, since returning the items would cost me significantly more than the actual refund I would receive and I thought PayPal would help me with this somehow. They have now told me I must return them at my own expense or I will get no refund!

I have emailed them several times, however all they can seem to say is that I agreed to it in the T&Cs when I joined PayPal. Why should I lose money returning them and the seller get two items which he'll probably sell on.

Is there anything I can do, please?

Peter.

Edit: I should mention that he is a private seller, not a business.

If it would cost you more to send them back than you'd get as a refund I would simply do nothing and say lesson learned.

In short, no.
I'm coming to the end of my own eBay battle (the keener readers amongst you might recall it from the before times) and I've had to return the item in order to get the refund.
What you're basically wanting, if I've read correctly, is your money back and to keep the item.
If you want the refund, you need to return the items.

As Chris says, if the postage to return them is going to be more than the refund, it's probably not worth it.
My own claim is for £48, and it's cost me £6 postage to get that back - worth while, I'd say.
