I have to say that I would be tempted to do this when my MBP was getting close to the end of its life.

Really? I assume you've seen the price. You could probably buy new for close to their fee.

The ModBook is certainly an attractive machine. The price is big - you are paying for extra body parts, a Wacom display/tablet and workshop time. I have been thinking about one for myself from time to time. The cost is just too great, and there was always the hope that Apple would do it properly. We now know that that is not likely.

Here’s something interesting I learned today: the chap in charge of Axiotron used to work for Apple - in it’s Newton division!
