Well, I've had a lot of medical crap in the past which involved a massive dose of radiotherapy when I was 10. Because of this I've had numerous MRI scans since then and will continue to have them. About 2 years ago they spotted a meningioma just inside and behind my left ear. They watched it over the next few scans but determined that it wasn't growing and didn't need surgery. On Tuesday I was on a trampoline and heard some clicking in my ear (I sometimes get this when running if I've had a cold). I thought nothing of it but my ear felt like it was blocked (like it had water in it or something). I went to see the doctor (GP) who had a look in my ear and said he couldn't see anything but it should clear itself after a few days. Well now it's Sunday night and contrary to clearing up I now have completely lost my hearing in my left ear. On Friday I could at least hear the music playing in my left earphone but it was very quiet and distorted now I can't hear it at all even with the volume right up. One of the symptoms of meningioma is hearing loss especially if it causes pressure on the auditory nerve. It just so happens that my meningioma that I know about is almost exactly where the auditory nerve is. I don't have an appointment or anything but I have been told to report immediately if I think anything is up. I'm off down to oncology tomorrow morning to see if I can see someone. I just hope this isn't permanent as I really don't fracking like it. I was walking into my house tonight and someone called to me but I couldn't find them. I had no idea which direction the sound was coming from and it took me 30 seconds or so to find where they were. He was stood about 10m away from me to my left hand side.

Hope it's not too serious Olly, waiting to hear what the doctors have to say.

It really sucks that we can't just go to the manufacturer and request repair or replacement under warranty, and swap the faulty unit out by undoing a couple of screws...
Let us know what they find. It goes without saying that we all wish you the best of luck, courage and most importantly I wish you a good doctor.
It's amazing to think you personally probably know more about what's going on than the most advanced medical researchers would have in your grandparent's era. Modern scanning and surgery is practically magic.

Well, I went there but my doctor wasn't in yet. I'm now at work waiting for him to call me.
Thanks for the support.
I'll keep you all posted.
