http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-20025626ffs! Does this mean we must lock up Michael Fish for playing down the likelihood of a hurricane?

Completely irrational. You may as well sue the Pope for not forewarning it given his connection to God!

+1 Earthquakes are notoriously difficult to predict. Not like volcanic eruptions etc.

I see a couple of the people who make up the main scientific board have also resigned. If I was them I would if ANY tremour is detected make a statement saying that "There is a likelyhood that this tremour might be the precurser to a Magnitue 9+ quake" After they have issued that a few thousnad times everyone will ignore all thier warnings

Overall One of the daftest episodes involving the law that I have ever heard.

This, along with the decision to charge the guy who organised the fireworks display over the M5 crash, are two of the most ridiculous legal decisions I've seen this year.

To some extent I can see the reason for charging the fireworks guy. Though was he given council approval at that site. Also the drivers failed to follow the highway code. What next arresting women in short skirts for causing accidents in town?

You could always avoid the distractions by texting while driving.
