I was reading about this on a blog but this is the first time I have seen it on any sort of news outlet.

All it takes is one mistake and that's it. Your life is [LIFTED] royally and the government and civil service are not liable for it. :x

That's awful!

I would certainly try and take that further if I were him. I'd take that all the way to the house of lords if I could.

also as an aside this is a major reason to have a 'bill of rights' and a written 'constitution' …

I think a bill of responsibilities would be paramount in light of this case.

That's unbelievable. So it actually states in law that judges are above the law, and now the civil service are too?

That's just wrong. Since he's already appealed, anyone know if he can go higher? Europe maybe? Of course, he'll have to borrow a load of money to pay the lawyers...

And yet people still support ID cards and the National Identity Register. :?

There's already going to be a statutory fine if any information on you in the NIR is incorrect (even if it's not your fault), I presume then that this precedent also means that if any incorrect information in the NIR severely [LIFTED] up your life HMG don't owe you a penny.

And people tolerate this? :?

Does anyone know if he got Leave to Appeal to the HoL?
