It wouldnt bother me one bit if parent spaces were at the other end of the car park as long as they i) have wide enough spaces and ii) direct access to a path. Thats kind of the whole point. I'd still use them. Its so difficult to get a car seat out of a normal space so no I wouldnt chose to park closer. Abusing them is a c***s trick and you'll never convince me otherwise.
And for the sake of arguing ("If the parent spaces were furthest away from the store than any other space then they wouldn't be abused as much") if you look at the picture I posted you can clearly see there's a lot of normal spaces much closer to the door than the kid spots. Why then did a BMW driver chose to park further away from the door but in a kid spot the other day? (its a rhetorical question btw, I already know the answer).
