If the parent spaces were furthest away from the store than any other space then they wouldn't be abused as much. And how many parents would then park in normal spaces for the convenience of being closer to the store?

So if you want space to open car doors fully go to the far end of the car park.

It wouldnt bother me one bit if parent spaces were at the other end of the car park as long as they i) have wide enough spaces and ii) direct access to a path. Thats kind of the whole point. I'd still use them. Its so difficult to get a car seat out of a normal space so no I wouldnt chose to park closer. Abusing them is a c***s trick and you'll never convince me otherwise.

And for the sake of arguing ("If the parent spaces were furthest away from the store than any other space then they wouldn't be abused as much") if you look at the picture I posted you can clearly see there's a lot of normal spaces much closer to the door than the kid spots. Why then did a BMW driver chose to park further away from the door but in a kid spot the other day? (its a rhetorical question btw, I already know the answer).

BMW drivers are cocks, that's why. </sweeping generalisation>

But you're right.

While I don't seek to defend BMW drivers generally, is it possible they may indeed have had a kid with them?

Parent child spaces I don't have a problem with but how old does the kid have to be before you shouldn't use one?
Should they only be for people with very young children, i.e. the ones who are still in a child seat/buggy/pram.
Just because you have a child with you doesn't mean you should use the space. How many parents with 10 year olds use the spaces (like said BMW owner possibly).

This fella in particular didnt as I walked passed as he pulled into the space and followed him into the supermarket - not stalking him mind you I was doing shopping too

I do think the spaces should not be Parent and Child but maybe Parent and Baby/Toddler.
