If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Thinking about it, I can't see it selling too many physical copies, as isn't HMV about the only place you can buy CD singles these days? And when did a lot of people last buy any kind of CD single? And if the one in Belfast city centre is anything to go by, music in general isn't as much of a priority as games and DVDs

I agree that people don't buy singles anymore but the Xfactor is different to anything else. Kids will buy it just because it is "cool". Xfactor in previous years sold 275k to 700k singles depending on the year. Until this morning RATM sold only 90k according to facebook source which is not exactly "stellar" considering 800k people in the group. But it may be that people just procrastinate the purchase, I only bough mine yesterday and I am going to buy another two later this week.

Or, more likely, people like the idea but don't want to waste their money on it.

D'ya ever get the feeling some people take things too seriously? Dress it up however you like, for some of us it's just amusing to put a sweary rock song at number one instead of one of Cowell's mass produced pop songs. For me, attempting to reach some further meaning about 'the music business' or 'popular tastes' and your representation is completely pointless in the present time. We have the internet, we don't rely on the radio anymore to find new tunes. So how relevant is the chart anyway to any of us? Unless you're in the business, it's a passing frippery. It's willy waving for the labels and that's about it.

1) They really should have been expecting it and if they were, why wasn't someone sat there with their finger on the 'fade' slider? 2) That last comment could very well be seen as the BBC endorsing a commercial product and will get them in if anything even more trouble than a sweary rock band. Jon

Mmmm l wonder what the song is about.. could the chorus of "f*ck you I wont do what you tell me" have given them a clue about there attitude towards being told what to do.

I saw Joe in HMV Newcastle, I asked him what he was buying...

More money than sense springs to mind. Personally I don't care who's number 1. Stopped following the charts over 10 years ago

Money? Is that what you call £1.50? Are you sure your life is worth living if you can't spare 1.50 for a laugh? I hope I will never be that poor... You can't say Zak hasn't try do it without swearing. Their songs have so much energy in them and they actually have a meaning and a message. You gotta get carried away while performing the song like that... *waits for Levick to say it is a waste of money
