does anyone know how to make windows media player properly shut down when i hit the dam big X button.. so annoying trying to pause spotify using keyboard keys to have wmp start playing another song
got windows 7 and yes i have googled it

Are you sure you're doing it right? when I hit it it closes for good, media buttons dont start/stop media for me

file > exit, doesnt work yes iam sure iam closing it..when i hit the play button it will carry on playing even though there is no window with it..

Not pointed out the obvious questions though..... Which version of windows 7? Legit? Retail or OEM/upgrade? 32/64bit? media keyboard? which version of media player? (as in exactly) Soundcard? You obviously didn't search hard enough http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=playba ... =firefox-aresults 2,3 and 6 all seem to have an answer which should be tried

Use Winamp then http://www.winamp.com/ It works beautifully with 64 bit Win 7.

You didn't properly answer either question, the version is not exactly 12, for an up to date one it is 12.0.7600.16415 And you didn't say which version of Windows 7 you are using

Well the solutions I linked to sort that problem, as it still runs while network services are running
