Yes, I think it is important (and think the same as Jon on voting for stuff they can't afford to pay for) if they want to have their own parliaments and be devolved from ours then they don't get a vote, just like we don't get a vote on theirs. Likewise they shouldn't be receiving funding from our taxes, if they want free prescriptions and free tuition then they can figure out how to pay for them.

If you were from Ireland you'd be Irish. From Northern Ireland you're either Northern Irish or just British. Mark

Fine, Northern Irish then. Or British if you prefer - though the latter is a dying brand.

A quick scour on the net shows mixed identities for the NI lot. It seems some identify themselevs as British, some as Northern Irish and some simply as Irish. Also;

That may be very different from the actual reality of things. Yeah, I know about dual citizenship as my Brother-in-Law apparently holds an Irish passport (I say apparently because I haven't actually seen it but it's what he claims). Mark

I consider myself British anyway, but I don't like what 'Northern Irish' implies to people who don't/won't understand our position in the UK, so I don't use it even in quick conversation
