I'm assuming when you get an iPhone you can sync it with your contacts? That's how I'd get my numbers across – sync my old phone via bluetooth to my contacts, then sync the contacts with the iPhone. If that works, it seems pretty simples to me.

OK I phone came today. First thoughts:- Had to do a "google" to find where/how to install Sim card - no instructions in box Got it up and running ok after that downloading iTunes and syncing across. Just worked out how to copy music onto it. Impressed so far - just wished it came with a proper instruction book. Ordered a leather wallet case for it. Is it worth taking out the extra insurance for it at £15 a month? My household insurance would probably cover it anyways.

I wouldn't worry about it getting nicked, everyone has one now And as for damage? Aren't they virtually indestructible? A few mates have them, all been dropped from various heights on to solid flooring, and only one's screen broke...but that was because a brick fell on it.

Am I the only one who examined their phone prior to use? I didn't need a manual to tell me how to insert my sim -it was pretty straight forward.

I've dropped mine countless times.
It does have a crack on the front - but I was lucky, and it was just below the screen, so you don't even notice it unless you look for it!
On the whole very sturdy indeed.

I did too... Then I found that it is inside the box, on the back of the piece of card which contains the SIM carrier removal tool - it just isn't obvious! I just left it on the defaults and it syced all my music. Not that I've ever listened to music on it. It is in electronic form, it is called Google! I'll get my coat. Yep, first thing I did as well. Ended up with a leather belt clip. I didn't bother. I've had mobilephones since the early 90s and I've never broken one or lost one, so I didn't bother. 15 quid a month? That will pretty much buy you a new iPhone after 2 years! They heard you were coming, they removed 5,000 apps from the store on Friday... Anything which showed body parts (include a clothing selector) were banned, no naked women, no boobies app - unless you are a major corporation, in which case you can still sell boobies apps, talk about double standards!

I spent a few weeks deciding which phone to get before deciding, and once I'd gotten it home the first thing I did was make a nice cup of tea and then sat down and read the papers that came with it. BTW, 4 or 5 days later and I'm still lovin' the HD2

Although it's difficult to wait, I always charged my mobile phones before first just like the manual says.

Oooh, that's handy.... JV, don't know whether you're going to do this or not, let the battery drain entirely, then let it charge fully again, I got about 6 or so hours extra battery life, with moderate usage...

Yep, did that with all of my phones, including the iPhone. Yep, I've downloaded a few free apps for the iPhone which do that as well. Useful when I am on the move, VPN into the network, grab control of a machine and fix it...
