I agree, but that sometimes means I have to finish watching or reading something that is quite bad right to the bitter end.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Oh, I know. I couldn't count the amount of times I've watched some awful film until the wee small hours just to see how it finishes.

The universe ends and everyone dies.
Not necessarily in that order.

I don't really care what way a show goes so long as it works - too many shows disappear up their own arse unfortunately, though many come back from the brink.

For instance, the first season of Heroes is one of the finest things thats ever been on TV IMO, but it then had to work around it's utterly baffling second season and I lost all interest myself :(

The Sopranos had a rubbish, weird in the show's terms fifth season (you could tell by the amount of characters who were introduced with a rubbish plot device and just as quickly killed off), but it came back with a bang and a great ending :D

Right, just finished this show this afternoon. Interesting, but not top of my list (which has been fairly extensive over the past 12 or so years). It seems they have tried to focus on the characters a little too much at the expense of plot direction. I'm all for characters, but the balance seems just a tiny bit off. The finale was definitely a fitting climax to the tension that had been building all season, but I still feel as though I don't care about this show as much as I was hoping to when it was announced.

Even just 3 more eps to a more traditional 13 might've given it the lebensraum to establish itself a little better. That said, I'm reasonably confident that season 2 will be allowed to breathe a little more deeply and plenty of seeds have been planted.

Oh and Ernie, as it was recently mentioned on Supernatural - it's not jumping the shark, if you don't come back down :D

That's pretty much bang on my feelings about the show I think.

The finale? You've seen all 20 episodes of season 1?

I thought that they had not even shown all episodes in the US yet. They stopped for four months and episode 11 is not due to be shown until April 2nd.

That's what I thought too Amnesia. I'm guessing the use of the word "finale" in this sense is just meaning episode 10.

I didn't realize it was on hiatus. I thought the 10 were it. That slides the balance a little further toward meh then. Whilst ep 10 makes more sense as a hiatus finale, the break will easily be enough to kill interest for most people outside of SG fandom. A tighter 13 ep season, with a back 9 plotted should it do well, would've served this show better IMO.

Aside from that, I stand by my assessment. And bow to those geekier than me who knew more about what's going on with a TV show.

As the entire front 10 can be repeated before the back 10 start, it may well gather more viewers in total than it may lose with the meh vote.

Maybe over here. But over there, I doubt it. There just wasn't enough excitement to traverse the hiatus. Typically shows breaking for that long is the US build to and end on, more of a cliffhanger for hiatus. Lost, Heroes, Prison Break. All the big ones have done it. Flash Forward. I may not love that show, but the hiatus finale was definitely more gripping and that show started really, really weakly.

Ok, I'm actually impressed. 11-14 have been nothing shot of stacks better than the whole of the first 10 eps put together. Anybody else still watching?

The characters and drama are taking centre stage and it really does the have the kind of feel that early BSG had.

Yes I am. It is actually quite entertaining. The relationships between people are slowly forming into factions. You can see something momentous is going to happen sooner or later.

I suspect I'll be getting this on DVD so no hiatus breaks in watching.
