That does just look like Sonic 1. I hope its not. I want a 2D 'classic' Sonic game yes but I dont want to play the original again with better graphics.

In response to Bratty's post earlier about Sonic 4 I found this....

Quote:
Sonic Crackers (or Sonic Studium) is essentially an incomplete technical demo showcasing the concept of switching game engines on the fly by using code written into the RAM. It features two types of playable levels, and two navigation type levels. The actual gameplay consists of Sonic and his sidekick Tails working together to clear the stages while being chained together by a pair of rings, focusing on the new dynamic of controlling both characters at once and manipulating inertia in order to advance through certain areas. The stages themselves are largely incomplete, and after the first playthroughs beging looping via pallete swaps, and slight changes to the musical score. Despite its very early state, the majority of the concepts put forth in Sonic Crackers were eventually realized in the later game Knuckles' Chaotix.

I think I'm being really stupid but I can't see a video of it anywhere.

Can someone provide a link please.

Thanks

EDIT: Our apologies, dear 1UP readers, but we have taken down the Sonic 4 screenshots and video at Sega's request.

:(

I'm sure it's on the net somewhere though... Tbh, so far it looks like Sonic 1+2 combined, with slightly different character animation :?

I found the video and TBH it looks a lot like Sonic 1 even with the same animations.

The guy playing it didn't seem to have a clue so there wasn't much fast running in the vid. But IIRC Sonic looked very much the same.

Doesn't look bad, but there's no way I'm paying for what looks to be essentially Sonic 1 all over again :?

On a sonic-related note, anyone come across a sonic hack called Sonic XL?
Check it out here http://bobshouseofvideogames.com/2010/08/09/video-game-lols-sonic-2-xl/ :D

EDIT: Okay the voice in that video is annoying. Just find sonic XL in youtube, and you'll get the idea
