Hardly surprising. I often wonder what goes through potential recruits heads - it's not like the money's good, and they can't all be misguidedly patriotic or full-on nutjobs?

I agree. Politicians treat the military very poorly. they lavish money on the civil servants at the MOD but spend bugger all on decent homes for them or on wages. Then they short change them when it comes to active duty pay. Then they are inadequately equipped as Afghanistan.
