The concept is fine but will these guys ever have any money ( recorded as theirs ) no, so will they pay this large sum .........no.

They should do extra time for the fact that they throttled their victims. The fact that they have no money is a fact of life. Criminals go through money like crazy because they expect to get more.

That's exactly my point so why bother setting a fine that will never be paid...........

Yes but they may have bought BMW and Mercedes. There was a story about some postmen who had crappy cars for work but bought Mercs and other luxuries with the proceeds of their crimes. This is what they are probably going to try and get.

Maybe their families need to be dragged in if they have nice cars and then see how they were paid for. If found to be from the muggings then charge them with the same crime as accessories.
