I think it depends... My laptop and my desktop have SD card readers (my desktop has a 13 way reader) and I've never used them. Having the SD card reader as an add-on dongle is fine, for me.

It reduces the cost for the basic device, there are less openings to let dust and moisture in and if you need to read SD cards, you can carry around the adapter with you and plug it in when needed - and if SD is dropped / replaced or the reader breaks, you just buy a replacement...

That's right, sensible people with souls and a reason to live will opt for a netbook.

I mean if it had SD (one that fits the card flush that is) couldnt you just buy the cheapest model and add 'storage' as and when you needed it? Just a thought.

I love this fevered speculation. Apple must love it, too, for all the acres of free publicity it's giving.

You make it sound like you have to automatically get one by default.
If you don't want it you don't have to justify not getting it. It's not exactly rocket surgery is it.
Bear in mind that the price of this has still to be officially announced (though personally I don't imagine it's too far away from what's being quoted here).

Apple's iPad's UK release may be delayed by production problems, according to a new report.

A research note by Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek claims Apple is suffering a "manufacturing bottleneck" when it comes to iPad production.

The note claims Apple may only have 300,000 iPads ready at launch, rather than the one million hoped for. Those iPads which will be available, may only be on sale in the US, with customers outside Apple's home market having to wait.

"An unspecified production problem at the iPad's manufacturer, Hon Hai Precision, will likely limit the launch region to the US," Misek claims in the note.

"It is also possible that, given the limited number of units available in March, the launch will be delayed for a month."

Officially, the Wi-Fi enabled version of the iPad is meant to go on sale at the end of this month, with the more expensive 3G and Wi-fi version to follow in April. Apple has yet to announce UK pricing or who might be partners for 3G data plans noting: "3G data plan may be sold separately."

Canaccord Adams analyst Peter Misek also predicted Apple will sell around 1.2 million iPads in fiscal year 2010 and 3.5 million in 2011. Additionally, the analyst raised his forecast for iPhone sales in the current quarter to 7.9 million units, up from his previous prediction of 7.2 million.
