Sex offender disclosure scheme to go nationwide

Thought that might happen - the Tories could be left with an absolute nightmare there

The problem is that in America this law has driven many sex offenders underground and no one knows where they are. That could happen here if they are persecuted.

Why the hell should parents be allowed to check on other people?

If they're to check on nurseries etc. then it's the LEA and the nursery itself that should be doing the checks
If it's to check on partners then it's the probation service that should be supervising them

+1. I doubt many MPs oppose the scheme though - protecting civil rights in the face of the anti-paedophile campaign isn't going to be popular.
