I'm looking at getting a 1TB 7200rpm SATA II internal hard drive. Anyone here have any personal experience of them? I'm looking for reliability as it's going to be used as a backup drive. It'll only ever be connected when in use, the rest of the time it'll be stored. So, make? Model? I know what's available (though I fully expect to be told of a product I haven't heard of now I've said that) I'm just looking for personal experiences any of you lot may have had, good or bad.

I swear by Samsung Spinpoint F1s, but the F3 is supposedly even better. I'm very happy with all of mine.

I shall be watching this with interest. I want to get 2x2TB drives for my MacPro and RAID them together to make a single 2TB drive that has redundancy.
This is partly because this is what I want to do, and partly because I foresee a lot of data slowly coming my way and I want to be ready for it.

I have a Samsung Spinpoint F1 of that spec. Nothing wrong with it at all. It also has 32MB of cache.

I've got an older Samsung SpinPoint T (500GB) and it's pretty good so another vote for Samsung here.

I've heard good things about the Samsung F3s. I've used a few F1s & maybe an F2 and they've been plenty good enough!

Just so you know: http://www.scan.co.uk/TodayOnly/Index.aspxHave a look at the hard drives about a third of the way down. Today only is £57.56 for a F3 (third of the way down). Which is pretty good. Might help make a decision if you wanted to get one sooner rather than later. (especially if you have a discount for P&P)

Just ordered one. (8+) I'll not get it until I visit Edd though as Scan wanted to charge an extra £12 delivery to get it to me over here, so it's going to England instead and will be delivered to me by proxy. Mark

How long does it normally take for Scan to send e-mail confirmation? (8+/

Samsung Spinpoint F3 is rated highly. It seems to be the favoured choice and is supposedly fast too. The F1 before it was just as popular.
