Just watched last night's Friday Night with Jonathan Ross. Guests were Michael Ball, Stephen Moyer and Lady Gaga.

Stephen Moyer is the guy who plays a Louisiana, 174 year old vampire by the name of Bill Compton in the TV show True Blood.

Surprise number 1 - Stephen Moyer is an Essex boy! His accent is amazing in the show and to hear him speaking with a Lahndahn accent is the most bizarre thing ever. I would have completely believed you if you'd told me he was American.

Surprise number 2 - Lady Gaga is really nice. I thought she'd maybe put on this weird diva/surreal act but she didn't. She was fairly open about herself but made a point of not talking about stuff that was truly close and important to her. Her style of performance is a bit odd but I truly believe she does it for the fans and to inspire them to be different and be themselves.

All round a good episode.

With regards to actors/actresses and accents, on the BBC3 show Harper's Island, the main female lead Abby sounds perfectly "normal"... at which point me and my friend watched the behind the scenes and she's Irish! No offence to her, but was the most off putting thing ever.

As for Lady Gaga, supposedly she switches up "roles" for interviews so noone knows what she's really like... when i watched her on Jonathan Ross after she had a few singles she just sounded very typical celeb glitzy etc.

You have me baffled what do you mean by Normal and why was her Irish accent off putting. :?

Oddly, he's played a vampire before too IIRC. He was the main antagonist in a TV series called 'ultraviolet' which had them as a main plot device.

The thing I realised this week about her, which is brilliant, is she's probably currently one of the most famous women in Britain yet if she took all the mad clobber off, she could walk down any high street and not get noticed at all. Best of both worlds, frankly.

That's going back a bit. Ultraviolet was rather good IIRC though it only got one series I think.
I liked the idea of the carbon fragmentation bullets they used to shoot vampires with.

Lol, i should have phrased it better.

What i meant was that because i had forgotten where the series was set (most likely America... they have some stereotypical "British" guy in the series), she sounded "normal" with regards to the locale (i.e. she didn't sound like she was Irish).

As for why it was off-putting... it's not specifically that it's Irish, more so the fact that i was so unaware to the fact that she wasn't. I'm not really sure i can explain it, just that both me and my flatmate thought she'd lost some of the initial attractiveness after she started speaking with an Irish accent.
