I haven't seen any of the nominated films, I'm waiting for District 9 and Up to come out on DVD and I'll buy them then. I also quite wanted to see 2012 but missed that at the cinema as well. Having read the synopsis, I'm not sure I want to see Avatar, but if it ends up in the cheap DVDs at Tesco I might get it. I'd quite like to see the Hurt Locker, but again only if it's on the cheap.

"Red sky at night, Shepherds Delight"..Which is a bit like Shepherds Pie, but with whipped topping instead of mashed potato.

Ah!! I didn't know that  Thanks.
I confess I didn't think enough time had passed since they were on at the movies so I haven't looked for them yet.... I will now (well, on payday)

Now that the results are in I am very happy that Avatar didn't do as well as everyone seemed to expect, however I do feel that "The Hurt Locker" won more than it really deserved. It seems as if the Acadamy members just got into the habit of seeing "Hurt Locker" on the nomination form and ticked it.

Don't get me wrong I did think it was one of the best films of last year, and I can appreciate that some may have thought it was the best, but it wasn't *THAT* good, and there were other more deserving films, especially in the Sound catagories.

Most of the other results seemed to be about right, though I must admit to not having seen all the documentaries, shorts and foreign films so can't make a comment on those. But we now have a "Star Trek" film that is an Oscar winner         the fact that it was for Make-Up, somehow makes it all the better.
