I think that the weekly format should be dropped in favour of about 4 or 6 specials over the course of a year.
Do this for a few years and then see what the market's like for returning back to a limited run of weekly shows.

Nice idea. I think that would be fit in well with the schedules. They need the occasional special on BBC2

It is still the best motoring show on the planet.

I disagree with that. It's the best blokes-larking-about-with-cars show on the planet.

I have recently watched more Fifth Gear on Dave than I ever have in all the years that it has been broadcast and it is pretty much the motoring magazine that Top Gear used to be. EddArmitage is 100% correct, but I agree with most of the negative comments made so far.

Very little of the program is relevant to the ordinary, every-day motorist; it has become a show for big kids and petrol heads. I have enjoyed most of the challenges and the specials are something else (I've seen the Botswana one about seven or eight times) but they are getting very, very silly at times and I do wish that they'd sort it out.

I don't have a problem with any of the three presenters either on Top Gear or otherwise, it's only a question of whether the dynamic between them has simply become stale.

It needs a kick up the arse, and the removal of at least one of the regular presenters.

Preferably Clarkson.

We came to that conclusion here last night too.

I haven't watched the last two series as it's become so predictable and repetitive. I do still try and catch the 'specials' if I can, though.

I think the specials they had like the Winter Olympics, the football match in the Aygo and the space shuttle reliant were among their best.

I miss that kind of thing. The completely off the wall specials.

Hammond should go. He overacts too much. When does the new series start?

They do a summer series and a winter series, so it's a while off yet.

+1, in that sense TG has provided some of the best TV IMO :)
