I'd scrap all except BBC2, BBCHD and BBC News 24, then I'd remove all of the other programmes besides Top Gear and Scrum V. Top Gear would be shown in full all day (with the funny bits left in, unlike on Dave) apart from the times when there is Magners League or Heineken Cup rugby on. There would be no soccer shown - not wasting license fee money on that

I'd scrap BBC1 and 5 live. The BBC has no place providing such pointless drivel which is well served else where. As a tv tax payer, I believe I have a right to my opinion.
BBC3 is the best TV station ever. There is rarely a month goes by that I don't tune in at least once, unlike most of the others which never show any original content worth tuppence.

BBC3 is where new series are tried like torchwood and the mighty boosh. It is important to have a channel to test series like that

I like Radio 4 & 5, and take podcasts off of both. Having said that, the Radio 4 stuff I listen to is mid-week, typically, and 5live is sports commentary/fighting talk at the weekends. I think potentially there is the option of starting BBC 4 a bit earlier, running interesting but niche documentaries until, say, 21:00, then jumping to the innovative BBC 3 content until midnight or so. I think the BBC showing a weekly film would also be a good thing to bring back.

I'm happy with both.Keep them Mr Tory is listening to Mr Murdoch too much.As has been stated the BBC shouldn't chase ratings. If commercial TV cant make the mark it is not up to the BBC to cut back so they (commercial TV) can make more money. I think the license fee is pretty good value for money. The BBC is there not just for the majority but also for the minorities and as such should be encouraged to continue to broadcast as it does. The commercial side has no wish to try to half of what the BBC does as it is only interested in the viewing figures and profits. yours wecrookie

Matt I know this is difficult to comprehend but some people don't have computers and the internet My Mum was actually sold mobile broadband last year in spite of the fact she told them 4 times on the phone that she didn't own a computer. After much flaffing about we got it cancelled and her money returned. Regarding BBC3 and 4, I like BBC3 but have never watched BBC4. In this day and age where we're in a recession, money is tight and cut backs are being made everywhere they could ditch one of them without making too much of a negative impact on our culture.

I'm not suggesting that people without internet should get it to watch TV. Instead I was pointing out that there is probably enough airtime on Beeb 1+2 to show everything from 3+4 as well if there weren't so many repeats, and that for a long time people have been able to record shows that they know they would miss.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

BBC4 is more arts oriented and definitely deserves a place in the public remit more so than some things. Overall I would leave the BBC alone but try and trim the more commercial aspects of its operations. The forced sale of its archive for plunder by rivals is simply a disgrace.
