In the past 2 days, Firefox has told me it is updating to version 3.6, downloaded the update and installed itself. This has happened 4 times so far, but I'm still on 3.5.8 Anyone else having issues?

I got fed up with it and wiped it, then installed the new version. Now re-doing all the add-ons and preferences...

No problems here, 2 Windows 7 Pro machines and an iMac.
I would guess that something in your set-up has become corrupted. I'd uninstall and install 3.6 from a fresh download.

I've found in the last few iterations of FF that the internal Check for Updates function is pretty useless. It find that there is an update then just sits there pretending to download it. I normally just go and find the new version on Version Tracker, download and install it myself over the top of the older version. That way I keep all of my plug-in and Add-ons without having to go find them all again.
Version 3.6 here.

It kept downloading and installing the same add-on update with me recently, but then eventually sorted itself out Is it just me, or do you find that when FF has a full-on crash (big gray box appearing), that it seems to happen because there's an add-on update ready when you restart (you don't get the usual bottom corner pop-up beforehand or anything)?

I like the message it gives when it starts up after it dies an ugly death. It says something like: "Well, that's embarrassing" I can repeatable crash FF by switching from Logmein Rescue to Logmein Free. It does it every single time. It's obviously a fault with the plugin, but it's very annoying because I often have both open - sometimes several tabs. I use them for remote support, and it's quite usual for me to be tabbing between a few different machines.
