Is it me or are there almost no rumours?
Any ideas about what might be new for 2010?

There are a few, they're just a bit.... dull. Some form of third party multitasking seems to be the common theme. I'm not sure that's not more 'things we want' rather than 'things that might happen'. What to me seems to be most necessary is a revamp of the springboard 'launcher'. Given the number of apps most people have on their iPhones now, just having a flat page interface to me seems very limited. A revamped springboard that lets you do it that way but also allows you to use the metadata that each app already has to categorise them, plus some sort of ability to group in a more sophisticated way. And maybe a new 'front screen' that can show more than just the time.

I think that there might be a front facing camera for video calls. That would be great for skype calls.

I am thinking more of hardware than software. Some interface tweeks and a given.
A front facing camera? I doubt it. Waste of money and space. Nobody video calls. I am hoping for some kind of flash unit. I am dreaming of in infra red out so that it works as a tv remote. I doubt I will get either though.

Yes maybe people do not use video calls because there are so few out there. But maybe the iPhone will change that as well. It will be a good reason for many iPhone users to upgrade. I

I've seen some pictures of some possible casing.housings for the new iPhone.
It was about half an inch taller and a bit wider than the current. Suggesting a slightly larger screen.

People do not do video calls because : - a) They're very self-conscious and feel ridiculous (much like webcam). b) It's so frakkin' expensive.

I'd have expected to see a more flexible SDK wrt screen-resolutions by now. Unless default non SDK-4.0 app behaviour will be to just use the centre part of the screen, as per the iPad.

Well I think the reasons are. a) The idea is pretty dumb. I have had family contacts with webcams in their computers for years. I have had a webcam in my iMac for years. How many calls have I made on video versus audio. Maybe 1 to a thousand. Do I want the person to whom I am speaking to see what I look like at that moment? No. b) It adds cost and complexity to little or no material gain. p.s. I guess these points are pretty much the same as yours.

Are you questioning what OLED is or whether the next iPhone would use them? They are Organic LEDs composed of organic compounds (hydrocarbon chains and stuff). If they were in the new iPhone it would significantly improve the battery life.

I think that they are still too expensive for Apple. Though they might overlook that if the battery performance was much improved and even more so if others were doing so. No need to jump ahead of the market.

A half decent battery would be a start.
