Since Voodoo only has a bad rep due to Christians trying to discredit it, I fail to see how this will help.

The Mexican police have a tough war going on with the drug gangs. There have been hundreds of killings and even high level ones at that. They are using every method that they can to end this situation.

Except, apparently, putting an end to organised crime by legalising drugs, bringing them under government control and thus denying the criminals their source of revenue.

Don't assume that all Police officers in Mexico are fighting the drug problem. There are many in cahoots with drug dealers quite happy to scam tourists.

Yes they do also have a problem with corrupt officers. That is probably the result of the huge sums of money involved.
