"Everyone has an opinion on film and I'm looking forward to debating the biggest news and releases with a whole variety of guests each week," Winkleman said.
"I am incredibly proud to be to be presenting the new look Film 2010. It's an honour to follow on from the brilliant Jonathan Ross.

Film critic Mark Kermode, who presents film programme on 5 live with Simon Mayo, had been favourite to present the TV show.
But on Friday he ruled himself out of taking on the role.
"I'm not doing Film 2010. There was all this nonsense in the press about the BBC grooming Kermode and it's not true," he said.
"Since then there's been all this stuff in the bookies. They've never asked me, they've never approached me, nor indeed would they - and I wouldn't expect them to.
"The thing with that programme is it requires a mainstream sensibility. If you were doing that programme, why would you get that bloke who says 3D is a con?
"It's very sweet of people, but I promise you I am nothing to do with Film Whatever It Is. Please bookies, stop putting odds on me. I'm interested in seeing what they do, but that's it."
Ross announced in January that he would be leaving the BBC after 13 years.

Don't really bother with Film 2000 and whatever and having Claudia Winkleman as host isn't going to make me change my mind. Yes, it is a pity Kermode won't do it but I think he's right that the show does need someone mainstream. I wonder why she was chosen...at least Ross is a fan of all types of film as far back as Incredibly Strange Film Show whereas Winkleman just strikes me as a presenter-for-hire.

Yes. I also watch the Barry Norman years of the show as well. This programme needs someone that knows film. It doesn't matter who it is as long as they know and appreciate film. Barry Norman had a family history of working in the film business and Jonathan Ross had a huge appreciation for films. You may not always like the opinions they have (Ross liked Paranormal Activity FFS!) but it always helps to be able to fall back on that extensive knowledge. I don't know a lot about this Claudia that's been named as the new presenter - I've seen her present a few things - but I hope she has that understanding to make a real go of it. Mark

I have barely watched it since Norman. Wossy was off putting for me. Kermode would have been better, regardless of not being mainstream. _________________Do concentrate, 007... "You are gifted. Mr. Kerrmode does the film reviews on the Culture Show anyway doesn't he?
Claudia Winkleman always comes across as being somewhat bonkers at the best of times. I'm not sure if I'll bother tuning in in either case.

I have to say, Winkleman used to have a column that got reproduced in the local Belfast Telegraph, and she came across as quite intelligent and not at all like you usually see her on TV... The format of her usual shows may be the problem, plus there's: I wonder if the Beeb will kill off the show if she isn't a hit? _________________Plain English advice on everything money, purchase and service related:
